Eugene chiropractic care helps control chronic back pain that causes pain beyond the back and into life that prevents sufferers from enjoying their lives.

Back pain patients visit Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic with all different types issues. Some walk better than others. Some have stronger muscles than others. Some are more susceptible to depression than others. Your Eugene chiropractor knows this and joins each back pain patient where s/he is and assesses each patient to find the difference(s) that make all the difference when putting together a relieving chiropractic treatment plan. Assessments like the 6-minute walk test that gauges the distance walked in 6 minutes and the TUG (‘time up to go’ from a seated position) test can be quite educational about cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health in degenerative lumbar spine patients. Both may be influenced by back pain. (1) Back muscles that turn weak and fatty (like the multifidus muscle tends to do) indicate issues with inflammatory and regeneration processes. (Back surgeons do not like this as a inferior surgical outcome is likely.) (2) Chiropractors know this and promote gentle exercise for these back muscles as part of the treatment plan to prevent recurrent back pain that a few lumbar disc degeneration patients experience. A recent study described that those who tend to experience recurrent back pain were found to move in a different way, more carefully, likely to evade pain. Recurrent back pain patients also suffered with higher levels of anxiety, depression, and disability as well as a reduced quality of life. (3) Your Eugene chiropractor welcomes all back pain sufferers with all their peculiarities. Your chiropractor teams up with with each one throughout the current back pain episode and beyond to control the back pain (physical, mental, and emotional features), so it doesn’t control them.

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Nike Taylor on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson on how she helps a chronic back pain patient in the middle of a recurrent episode of back pain with the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management to find relief and a feeling of control over back pain to minimize recurrent back pain episodes as much as possible.

Chronic Eugene back pain may be helped by olfactory training which uses smelling scents to desensitize the sufferer to the pain.

Eugene CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:

SNIFFING SCENTS TO REDUCE PAIN!

An interesting study of chronic low back pain patients found that odor-training helped reduce their pain thresholds. Regular exposure (every 2 hours in the study) to scents like rose, vanilla, peach and chocolate – olfactory training! - helped reduce pain. The researchers hinted that it may help ease pain chronification and quite possibly control general pain via desensitization. (4) What an enjoyable adjunct this could be to the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management! You may want to try sniffing some good scents yourself!
