“How many visits will I have to make, doc?” A familiar question for your Eugene
chiropractor. Chiropractic care at Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic follows an
evidence-based algorithm of care backed by clinical research
that goes back to the 1970’s: The Cox® Technic System of
Spinal Pain Management. Newer research bears out the
system and its goals in which Eugene chiropractic patients can find
calm as they heal.
CHIROPRACTIC USE
Eugene chiropractic patients would not
be chiropractic patients if it did not help.
The latest study of who uses
chiropractic was done in Malaysia: 35% of Malayasians
used chiropractic. Though it was very lower
than traditional and complementary medicine care usage there, it is a good number!
(1) Approximately 25% of U.S. residents sought chiropractic
for back and neck pain treatment. 35
million U.S. adults saw a chiropractor in the last 12 months. (2) That number is expanding as more
people pursue and find a non-surgical, conservative
approach to pain relief in chiropractic understanding that it may
require a few visits to obtain results. Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic
is committed to setting a realistic treatment plan for the best possible
outcome.
RECENT RESEARCH RESULTS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE AT 3
MONTHS
Wondering how many chiropractic visits
patients use and the outcomes? A new study found
that in 1,362 chronic low back pain patients and 1,214 chronic neck pain
patients’ function improved and back and neck pain decreased with
chiropractic care in 3 months. Those who reported
worse pain at first had more chiropractic
visits. Chronic low back pain sufferers who went to the chiropractor more
than once a week benefitted more. At 3
months, chronic back and neck pain patients were improving slowly, may have even reached maximum improvement,
and were potentially managing their chronic pain with
a variety of chiropractic visit frequencies. (3) That is
our goal, too, at Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic: educate our Eugene back pain and
neck pain patients about how they can help themselves with pain
management and prevention! With Cox®
Technic, 29
days and 12 visits were the mean days and visits to improvement
in a study of 1000 patients. Disc herniations did take a little
longer and required more visits than sprain/strains. (4) Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic
shares statistics like this to help our chiropractic
patients make realistic expectations.
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS WITH CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Eugene chronic neck and back
pain patients are realistic. Despite health policy today that seems
to seek a cure for whatever ails, most chronic
spine pain patients seek pain management that they understand
will require ongoing care rather than “cure” from their chiropractic
care. (5) Cox® Technic implemented at Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic has always presented
the notion of “control not cure” when it comes to most neck pain
and back pain issues. It resonates with neck pain
and back pain sufferers who have looked
for care from a variety of different providers that they “get” it. The 50% Rule
of Cox® Technic makes sense to them: 50% relief in 30 days or referral for
imaging or other consultation, 50% relief decreases the visit
frequency by 50%, 50% relief changes the treatment from Protocol I to Protocol
II, etc. The chiropractic care system of Cox® Technic follows an established algorithm
that offers patients realistic expectations.
