Eugene Dizziness and Neck Pain Care at Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic

Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be frustrating, but it can also alter balance and contribute to falls. Dizziness with related cervical spine disc degeneration can be a problem for older folks. Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic presents new research about chronic neck pain and its relationship to dizziness as well as the role Eugene chiropractic care plays in relief of neck pain and oftentimes related dizziness.

CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS

Patients with chronic neck pain due to cervical degenerative disease often have dizziness as well as neck pain. Many already-published studies, both clinical and basic science, describe the relationship of cervical disc degeneration and dizziness. A new study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was diagnosed in 89% of these patients. Improper neck postures over long periods of time may be a factor when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have separate prompts for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and weeding may trigger general dizziness, especially in women who are older. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain pointed out that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly indicated that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness arose from degenerated cervical spine discs. The dizziness occurred with only cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy. (2) Such degenerative disc disease in the neck also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, specifically inflammatory cytokines that trigger mechanoreceptors like the Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs leading to dizziness. The good news: a majority of patients with cervical disc disease and associated dizziness report that conservative treatment is effective for them. (3) Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic is the home for conservative chiropractic care of Eugene neck pain and degenerated cervical discs.

CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR DIZZINESS

An Australian study of chiropractic care of neck pain patients who also reported dizziness revealed that chiropractic is frequently used by these patients to manage their neck pain. One in five people over age 70 years experienced neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors said that the neck pain and related dizziness was moderately responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic utilizes the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration and its related Eugene neck pain.
