Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well

Your Eugene chiropractor understands your spine! Rethwill Chiropractic Clinic understands anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor studied much about anatomy of the spine and applies that knowledge every day. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is continually at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient comes into the practice! It is so exciting! (Aren’t you happy someone finds it exciting?)

LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL

When we were in school, we were all guilty of learning only to pass an exam. Going to professional school, such learning is more vital than ever since it will affect everyday work. (How much do you remember from your high school or college days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists discovered that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy instruction during chiropractic education was advantageous for clinical practice, allowing better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical material to substantiate a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian report of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners reported that they knew their anatomy and proved it by taking a test of their knowledge. This was compared to the same in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors demonstrated that they kept their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the hypothesis that chiropractic practitioners may not keep it after a period of time. Knowledge of anatomy is used every day in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your Eugene chiropractor does! We will be happy to talk about it!

SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE

Applying spinal manipulation daily utilizes knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most ordinary reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they experienced were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions receive a lot of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of musculoskeletal pain patients (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come experience these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge of the spine’s anatomy.
